On October 3rd at 11.30 Francesco Profumo, Minister of University and Research, will be at Cineca for the official inauguration of the FERMI supercomputer, ranked at the 7th position in the June12 Top500.

FERMI is one of the PRACE Tier-0 systems and is available to Italian and European researchers since summer 2012.

In the October ceremony Minister Profumo will officially inaugurate the system. That will also be the occasion for discussing the perspectives of the national and European computational research world with some of the most relevant players of the HPC and scientific panorama.

The agenda of the event includes contributes, besides the Minister one, from Catherine Riviere, president of PRACE Council, Thomas Lippert, coordinator of PRACE IP projects, Claudio Zannoni, president of the Cineca Scientific Committee for PRACE, Francesco Pavone, director of the European Laboratory for Non-Linear Spectroscopy and Kostas Glinos, director of DG Connect of the European Commission.
