Futuro24: CINECA, the home of supercomputers in Bologna

Supercomputing has a long history in Italy. Since its inception, Cineca has been able to concretize the Ministry of University and Research's mandate to represent Italy in the European supercomputing ecosystem, and now being concretized in the Tecnopolo in Bologna, with the creation of an international supercomputing hub. Francesco Ubertini, the president of Cineca, explains it to Futuro24.

Machine learning for heliophysics

The EC Horizon 2020 AIDA project organizes a school on machine learning for heliophysics. During the school the new instruments developed during the AIDA project will be shown: AIDApy and AIDAdb. These tools are open source software and were designed to simplify the use of machine learning in any heliophysics application. The school is sponsored by PRACE.

Urgent computing for the World Tsunami Awareness Day

The destructive event, occurred almost one year ago, will be replied: the 2020 Mw 7 Samos earthquake. The exercise is promoted by the ChEESE Project to show the potentiality of HPC for Probabilistic Hazard Forecasting, and in particular of Urgent Computing for Rapid Post Event Assessment. The Urgent Computing will be performed live by INGV researchers on the CINECA Marconi100 supercomputer.
