FERMI! The new powerful computational resource for Italian scientists.

Dear users,
we are pleased to inform you that on May 2012 at CINECA, a new supercomputer will be set up.
A brand new IBM BlueGene Q provided of 163,840 cores will allow the incredible performance of 2.1 Peta Flop and will be named FERMI as the famous physicist.
The access to FERMI will be granted to all the scientific community since Summer 2012.
Additional techical details will be provided soon next months to assist you in the configuration of your codes.

Siamo lieti di informarvi che a Maggio 2012 presso il CINECA verrà installato un nuovissimo cluster di super calcolo.
Si tratta di un modello IBM BlueGene Q che con i suoi 163,840 cores permetterà di raggiungere l’incredibile velocità di calcolo di 2.1 Peta Flop e sarà denominato FERMI in onore dell’illustre fisico.
FERMI verrà reso disponibile per tutta la comunità scientifica a partire dall’Estate 2012.

Ulteriori dettagli tecnici verranno forniti in questi mesi per assistere gli utenti nella configurazione dei propri codici.
