IMPORTANT REMINDER: new long term storage system (tape) at CINECA

Dear Users,
as already announced, CINECA acquired a larger and more powerful tape library, based on a multi-level (LTFS) technology. The storing and retrieving of data are no more provided by the “cart” commands, which have been finally dismissed together with the old tape libraries.
Several months ago (October 2014) we asked all users possessing data on tape to confirm their interest in saving their data. For those users data will shortly be available through the $TAPE variable. All other users can still retrieve their data by writing to superc@cineca.it before May 31st, 2015.
Hence, the relevant points are:

the “cart” commands are not available anymore
the users who contacted us in order to have their data accounted for, will shortly be able to access them by means of the $TAPE variable
all other users can still retrieve their tape data by writing to superc@cineca.it before May 31st, 2015
