Cineca Hardware Utilization
In 2025, the Cineca HPC infrastructure was composed of 3 clusters devoted to general purpose usage: the Tier-0 system Leonardo divided in two partitions (Booster with GPU acceleration and DCGP with only CPUs), the Tier-1 system Galileo 100 and Ada Cloud system.
EUROHPC, ISCRA and ICSC are the three grant allocation frameworks with different calls per years. By applying to the above calls, if the project is accepted after peer review evaluation, researchers can run on CINECA clusters for free. In addition computational resources are allocated through AGREEMENTS, as support to EU projects (PROJECT EU) or assigned to Industrial users (CONTRACTS)
In the following we report some statistics regarding the availability, allocation and utilization of the CINECA clusters in 2025.
CLUSTER AVAILABILITY
Here we show the availability of compute nodes of each system.
A system may not be available because of issues but also during its periodic maintenance needed to keep it up to date and in good shape.
The overall availability in 2025 on average has been of 95%.
CLUSTER ALLOCATION
In this section we show the budget allocation divided per type or per Scientific Domain.
EUROHPC calls distribute the large part of the resources.
The largest part of the resources is devoted to projects studying or making use of AI and Machine Learning tools.
CLUSTERS UTILIZATION
The below data collect the overall resources used during 2025 per month or divided per type or per Scientific Domain.
The overall utilization has been on average of about 73%.
